Q: How will the new Agency Workers Rights (October 2011) affect me?

A: We are running a seminar on the 7th September and notes will be available thereafter on our website. Please click AWR from the menu on the right. We are putting policies and procedures in place now to ensure the regulations are met.

Q: What do I do if I want to go for interviews for permanent jobs?

A: That’s fine, all we ask is that you book your interview at a time to suit where you are temping and that you give us 1 weeks’ notice once you have secured a role.

Q: If I just pop in to your offices at anytime will someone see me?

A: We would love to say 'yes' to everyone but this is not always possible as we book appointments for candidates. This ensures that we spend one to one time with our candidates (if you really need to come in and see us at short notice, please ring first so we can try and find a slot for you).

Q: What compliance documents do you need?

A: Always passport or full birth certificate, photo ID if no passport, proof of address and proof of national insurance. Other roles require further documents.

Q: What do I do if more than one agency tells me about the same role?

A: You must choose one agency and go with them for the role. Hedging your bets doesn’t work – more often than not it works against you as clients are fearful of having to pay 2 or more fees.

Q: I am desperate for a job; I don’t mind where my CV is sent – is this ok? Will it increase my chances of securing a role?

A: Make sure you know where your CV is sent. It is a legal requirement for agencies to tell you about a role and agree for your CV to go forward before sending off your CV. (Specific agreements may be made re: certain clients – this is agreed to up front with your consent)
